THE BOAT THAT REFUSED TO BE BURNT

PART 2

( What has happened so far— During WWII the British government fighting the Japanese in the South Pacific confiscate a little fleet of mission boats to avoid their capture by the enemy. A British soldier spying on the movements of the Japanese receives news that the Japanese have discovered his whereabouts and are coming for him. He tries to move the little fleet of boats out to sea. The engine on one boat, the Portal, refuses to start and he decides to set it on fire.)

Undaunted by the blaze that appeared intent on its work of reducing the Portal to coal, the local Christian continued to pray. The infernal heat generated by the towering blaze seemed to not concern them as they gathered near the doomed vessel pleading that God even then would save this boat for future work in the islands. Suddenly, as if a mighty hand snuffed out the flames, the fire went out. The gasoline poured on the schooner had been consumed; the schooner, except for some of its rigging, was intact.

Shouting and singing, praising God for the miracle they had witnessed, these wonderful people set about the colossal task of hiding the vessel from the enemy. They had to work quickly; Japanese soldiers would arrive soon, and the natives had no intention of allowing them the use of this boat for their war effort.
