As she ate the fruit, waves of ecstasy surged over her being. “Am I being transformed? Will I become like God?”she thought excitedly.

Picking more fruit, Eve dashed down the winding path to find Adam. Rounding a bend in the road, she sighted him and shouted, “Adam, Adam, I just met a most unusual serpent—he talked. He told me the fruit from the forbidden tree would not kill me. I ate the fruit and I had a most wonderful feeling. Oh, Adam, taste it for yourself and see how good it is.”

“Oh, Eve, how could you have done this?” Adam moaned. “You will die.” He had not felt such sadness in all his life. How could he live without her? She had broken the law of God–– she must surely die.” Acting quickly he took one of the fruit she carried and ate it.

Suddenly they both realized that the beautiful glow that had been their clothing had abruptly vanished—they were naked. A sense of doom filled them. Gone was Eve’s euphoria; they now realized that they would both die. Quickly taking some fig leaves, Adam and Eve made a bikini and covered themselves with it. Late in the evening, Adam and Eve heard God’s voice calling and they hid from Him. God called again, “Adam, Eve where are you?”
