Lucifer allowed his sinister ideas to fester and gradually came to the astonishing conclusion that he was more capable than the God of the Universe. To impress his importance and exalted status above other angels, he toyed with the ridiculous idea of procuring a throne, among the council of the God-head, on the side of the north. Later on the thought occurred, "He would climb above the heights of the clouds; he would be like the Most High God."
This mighty angel, once favored by the great God of the universe; now submerged himself in a cauldron of sullen brooding and bitter resentment. "Adoration by his Creator and all created beings was the one thing that would bring him happiness." Silently, his devious mind plotted his strategy.
Subtly mobilizing a whisper campaign, Lucifer launched his attack against the government of heaven. Carefully selecting the angels who most admired him, he asked insinuating questions, "What did they think about God's constant demand for obedience and worship?" "Did they know that if they dared disobey God they would cease to exist."
