Jacob never owned the land that had been promised to him and to his seed. He did not live to see his seed bless the whole earth. He had no idea of the significance of that mysterious ladder that connected earth and heaven. It remained for the Seed of Jacob, Jesus, to explain Jacob’s ladder. Jesus said, “I am the way the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me.” And again “Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. And so before our very eyes Jacob’s ladder becomes Jesus, lifted up, dying, drawing all men unto Him. The Messiah, the anointed one, is the one who connects earth with heaven, and ever liveth to make intercession for us.
