THE LADDER THAT BECAME A CROSS

The dejected form hurrying over the rocky country roads cast clandestine glances over his shoulder. Clutching a cane in one hand and in the other hand a small package with provisions for his hurried flight, the furtive figure dashed over the jagged road. Behind him lay his ancestral home and everything he held dear. Sometimes jogging, sometimes walking, he let his mind go back to better times.

Fondly reminiscing about his mother, he remembered how special she had always made him feel. He recalled his father, the priest of the family who officiated, the evening and morning sacrifices. He remembered his father’s love. He remembered that special presence lingering over their home, the joyful Spirit of the living God. Poignantly, recalling the promise that “Through his grandfather, Abraham, all the nations of the earth would be blest, he hastened down the trail that led him farther and farther away from home . “He was now a fugitive; Esau, his brother had determined to kill him.”
